This essay will discuss the life and works of Ayn Rand. Thewoman who would become Ayn Rand was born AliceRosenbaum on February 2, 1905. (Branden, Barbara pg.31986). She was born during the eleventh year of NicholasIIs reign in Russia.(Baker pg.1 1987). Rands birth wasjust before a revolution in Russia, however this revolutionwas put batch by her first year.(Branden, Barbara pg.31986). The Rosenbaums lived quite comfortably under theczar.(Baker pg.1 1987). Beneath their large apartment wasFronz Rosenbaums chemist shop.(Branden, Barbara pg. 41986). Rands father was a serious man whom she neerknew very well.(Branden, Barbara pg.4 1986). Aynsmother, Anna Rosenbaum, was the opposite of her fatherand was very sociable. (Branden, Barbara pg. 4-5 1986).As a child, Rand did not have a true sense of affection withher father. (Branden, Barbara pg.5 1986). However, shedid develop a dependable bond of love with him as she grewolder. (Branden, Barbara pg. 4 1986). Ayn did not getalong well wit h her mother. (Branden, Barbara pg.5 1986).Although the Rosenbaum family was traditionally Jewish, itis said that Rand really did not have a apparitional upbringing.(Baker pg.2 1987). As a result, she became atheist as achild after coming to the conclusion that believing in God isdegrading to humans in the sense that man should live forno one else but himself. (Baker pg.3 1987). Randdiscovered a passion for upbeat, lively music which shebegan collecting on records. (Branden, Barbara pg.81986). By the era she was five years of age, she had twolittle sisters, Natasha and Elena. (Branden, Barbara pg.71986). As a whole, Ayns childhood was not a pleasantexperience for her in later years it prove to be anunhappy memory as well. (Branden, Barbara pg.34 1986).Ayn Rand received a good education and learned to readand write at age six. (Baker pg.2 1987). She found herclasses dim and too easy. (Baker pg.2 1987). This conducther to begin writing simple short stories and novels. (Bakerpg.2 1987). Rands inability to fit in socially at school andher boredom with the education she was receiving led herto become somewhat of a recluse with one exception herpassion for literature. (Branden, Barbara pg.11 1986).Literature seemed to absorb Ayn more than any otherthing it intrigued her and gave her much pastime to readand soon, to write.
